Note: Today (April 9th, 2024) the price on Amazon is roughly the same as Meta for the 128GB model but significantly more expensive for the 256GB. At first glance it looks like Amazon offers a cheaper price for the Meta Quest Pro but don’t be fooled. Amazon only includes the headset where the Meta price also includes 2 Meta Quest Touch Pro Controllers, the charging dock, and many other accessories. Please double check and shop around to find the absolute lowest price.

Cheapest Pick (International):

Pico 4: New for around $430 on eBay

The Pico VR headsets are only available in Europe and East Asia (China, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore). However, you can typically find these on eBay if you determined to get one in the US. However, insiders have revealed that ByteDance has cancelled the Pico 5 release all together after disappointing sales of the Pico 4. As the parent company of TikTok, ByteDance also likely has its focus diverted by recent US push back against the social media platform.

PlayStation VR: The link on Sony’s website was broken, so guessing they are phasing these out for the VR2. You can still purchase the PS VR from retailers like Walmart but if Sony is deprecating old VR you will likely want to get the VR2 to ensure new games and updates.

Note: A PS5 console required to play PS VR2! This will set you back another $400-$500+ so make sure you factor that in to your budget as well. At the time of writing, the PS VR2 is slightly cheaper on Amazon coming in at $535.59

Valve Index VR Kit: $999 + price of PC

Note: You can find cheaper kits on the official store and amazon but the headset won’t work without a Valve Index Base Station and the cheaper kits do not include that or controlers. You will also need a PC to use Valve Index VR so factor that into your budget as well
